I have the demo of this game, its kinda fun, but submissions are almost impossible to pull off. I have never seen so many fights end in KO either. One weird thing is that I've never seen a tko so far in this game, just pure KO (where the person's mouth guard falls out everytime)
Out of about 25 fights I've had, 23 ended in KO, 2 in Unanimous Decision (both times every judge had the same score), and 0 ended in submission. Geez, you wouldn't think that after rocking Chuck with body shots 4 times in a single round, that he could still escape my submissions, while still being rocked too.
However, it was fairly satisfying knocking Chuck out with a flying knee.
Hmmm, now I must go play it some moore and submit that greasy bastard Chuck (that's right, Im calling him a greaser).

I to have the demo, got it last night. I do agree the ko ratio is very high. mostly KO's but i have had a few TKO's and also no submissions. none of the fights ive had have gone the distance.
I tried the strategy of lots of leg kicks to weaken his legs and it made takedowns pretty easy, but then i got carried away and forgot to protect my head and ate a nasty left hook from Chuck that put me to sleep.
So far a fun game, I just can't wait to play the whole thing...really i can't wait.

You sound pretty damn excited. I like how when the round ends, both fighters have the exact same movement, its funny how they appear to size each other up for a second while taking a step backwards. I also like that the crowd booed me when I purposely didn't engage for an entire round (although Rogan seemed to think that both fighters would be unrecognizable tomorrow, haha).
Several minutes after my last post, I was finally able to submit Chuck with a Kimura, as well as get a tko with knees on the ground.
Now I just need to see if you can end a fight due to a cut.

have you noticed the disappearing cuts? it happens to me often. I cut chuck and it was fairly large at the the end of the first round so my plan was to focus on it to try and get a stoppage. but when he came out for the second round he was healed. like i was fighting wolverine or something.

haha ya, I noticed that today too, basically exactly as you said. I cut him under his eye pretty bad, but it looked completely healed when he came back out. Those corner men are miracle workers.
It seems we are both anti-Chuck.

did you play the tutorial? Apparently you need to hammer on one of the buttons while attempting subs (or you can swirl the stick).

I basically stopped trying after I succeeded with my first sub. I assume you're not playing on expert or anything, right? because that seems to make it impossible to sub him.
Try going to options and set it to show stamina bars, then just hack Chuck down with body shots and leg kicks. When his stamina is low take him down and go into side control, then rock him with strong knees to the body, and then go for a sub. If that doesn't work.... then you're not an ultimate fighter.
Now Im gonna go and see if I can sub Chuck again, or if it was just a fluke.

Lets see if you can beat this: I managed to knock Chuck out cold 1:07 into Round 2 on EXPERT. Damn, it took me about 8 tries to beat him on expert at all. I just had his number this time and almost finished him in RD 1, but he was saved by the bell.
It seems like Chuck just gets a power boost in round 2. Almost every time I lost, it was around 2-3 minutes into round 2 from a superman punch. It didn't seem to matter how well I was doing before that, just out cold every time.

i got a 0:36sec ko on chuck in the first on advanced setting. i just moved up to expert to further my training.
Oh and Mario is a shitty ref! I had the mount and was raining down some punches then took a breather then the fucker stood us up! Bullshit I said.
